Client: Nexterra Energy Corp
Project Size: 4,000 SF | 370 SM
Location: Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
Scope of Project: Biomass Energy Facility: pre engineered steel building, architectural cladding and roofing, low-e glazing, doors, louvers, stairs, mezzanine, installation of these items.
When we told the architect for the Dockside Green Biomass project that we planned on using a metal building to house Nexterra’s gasification equipment in the luxurious inner harbour of Victoria, he just about threw us out of his office! He soon realized, however, that unlike most metal building contractors, Colony was quite accepting of the unique vision that he was trying to achieve. Not only did we embrace the unique design features, (bumped-out columns, a cantilevered mezzanine, low-e glazing, and custom glass handrails), but the project overall received LEED PLATINUM certification (the highest score of any project in the world at the time)!
